Update from WSDEVELOPMENT:
We wanted to send out a slightly revised version of the Streets & Sidewalks Exhibit sent last Friday to note one change at the Swann/Rome Ave intersection. We had hoped to only have partial lane closures at Rome north of Swann (one lane at a time) but the City transportation department did not ultimately approve this condition, so both lanes of Rome are now closed and are slated to re-open in mid-March. Thank you again for your continued understanding and please let us know if you have any questions.
Hello, below is a quick update on recent progress and upcoming construction in Hyde Park Village from WSDEVELOPMENT:
Streets & Sidewalks
-Swann Avenue: As you have no doubt seen, the work on the north side of Swann Avenue is progressing, and thus far is on schedule. The intersection at Dakota and Swann is re-opening on Friday afternoon (2/3) and the new traffic signal is expected to be operational by mid-February. As previously communicated, the intersection of Swann/Rome will then see partial closures through the month of February likely into mid-March, and when Rome is complete the final leg at Oregon/Swann is scheduled to be under construction from mid-March to mid-April. We look forward to all work on Swann Avenue being complete and fully open for vehicular and pedestrian use!
-Snow & Dakota Ave: In late February work is expected to begin on the west side (southbound lane) of Snow and Dakota Ave. Removal of existing trees will be part of this work, but as with all other areas they will be replaced with new trees per the City agreement. This work on Snow/Dakota will bring a partial road closure through the Village, with the southbound lane being closed from approximately Lululemon’s storefront to the Rome/Snow intersection. This closure is shown in green on the attached plan, and the traffic routing is shown by yellow arrows. Northbound traffic remain open. The work on this side of Dakota and Snow is expected to run through June, after which work will begin in Village Circle and on Village Green. We will provide another update regarding this work and next steps in the Spring.
-E Block / West Snow Circle: The work within West Snow Circle is progressing and the majority of building façade work is slated to be complete by the end of February. The sidewalk and landscaping comes next and is expected to last through April. Access to the shops and through West Snow Circle will be maintained at all times. Hopefully you have seen the progress thus far and the renderings posted nearby, we are excited for everyone to see the finished product.
-F Block: Similar to E Block, façade improvements are slated to begin in early March on F Block within Village Circle. This work will include new canopy and roofs for the commercial tenants and improvements to the walkways and staircases. As will all other work, access to the building and shops will be maintained at all times.
-H Block: The demolition of existing H block building commenced in mid-January and is already substantially complete. Final plans and preparations are being made for the new 2-level H building and we hope to break ground on that by late Spring or early Summer.
As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding during our continued revitalization efforts. Please let us know if you have any questions.
